Pay passengers for flight delays, airlines told after judges close legal loophole

Thousands of passengers can now claim compensation from airlines if their flights are delayed or cancelled.
Under EU law, airlines are required to pay out for technical delays unless there are 'extraordinary circumstances'.
But many carriers have been criticised by the industry watchdog for refusing to pay by citing get-out clauses and 'conditions beyond their control' - such as a shortage of staff...
