Flight Cancellation

Your flight has been cancelled if the flight with a flight number for which you held a valid booking/reservation did not depart from the airport.

Formally stated a cancellation can be classified as the non-operation of a flight which was previously planned. This does NOT have to mean that you did not fly on that day. The airline may have transported you on the next flight or flown you to your final destination on a different route.

If your flight has been cancelled then you are entitled to a financial compensation.

Compensation for a flight cancellation

The level of compensation that you are entitled to receive is set by the distance of the flight. If you fall within the scope of the Regulation, you are entitled to:

  • ¤ 250 for all flights of 1,500 kilometers or less;
  • ¤ 400 for all intra-Community flights of more than 1,500 kilometers, and for all other flights between 1,500 and 3,500 kilometers;
  • ¤ 600 for all other flights not falling in one of the above categories.
