Easyjet uses ‘iBeacon’ technology to help speed up the airport journey for passengers

First it was drone technology to assist with aircraft inspection now Easyjet is the first airline to trial ‘iBeacon’ technology with the aim of helping passengers better navigate their way through airports.

The technology which is being trialled at Luton, Gatwick and Paris Charles de Gaulle airports, prompts notifications to passenger’s mobiles during critical points of the airport journey. The messages are activated automatically as passengers approach bag drop and security – nudging them to have boarding passes handy and ready for scanning and reminding them when passports need to be presented.

The trail will take place during the peak summer period, if well received by passengers Easyjet plans to roll out iBeacon technology across Europe. Let us know what you think if you come across ‘iBeacon’ technology on your travels.
