London Heathrow closed due to emergency landing

This morning we heard the news that an Airbus A319 with 75 passengers on board had to make an emergency landing at London Heathrow.

It concerns a plane from British Airways with flight number BA 762. The airplane just departed with destination Oslo.

From the ground one could see that fire and smoke were visible in one of the engines. However, both engines were having problems. The exact cause is not yet known.

The Air Traffic Control immediately raised the alarm and closed off the airport. This caused major flight disruptions where planes were delayed or even diverted to other airports. Is this an extraordinary circumstance? Of course it is! An emergency landing is toppriority. That other flights are delayed, is a direct consequence due to this incident. Passengers are therefore not entitled to financial compensation.

Luckily, the incident ended well. The airplane landed safely. Passengers will probably be confronted with flight delays the rest of the day. We hope that all passengers will have patience and are understanding.
