- The delay was not caused by an extraordinary circumstance, such as airport closure.
Bristol Airport is a European airport. If your flight departed from Bristol and the delay was not caused by an extraordinary circumstance, you are entitled to compensation of up to €600 (£530*) per passenger.
Example: Your flight from Edinburgh to Bristol was delayed by 3 hours. This is not classed as an extraordinary circumstance, therefore you are entitled to financial compensation of €250 (£221*) per person.
Amount of compensation
Providing that your delayed flight to or from Bristol Airport falls under Regulation 261/2004, you are entitled to financial compensation. The amount of compensation is based on the distance of your flight:
Flight destinations within the EU
- €250 (£221*) compensation for a delayed flight up to 1,500 km (e.g. Bristol to Dublin)
- €400 (£354*) compensation for a delayed flight over 1,500 km (e.g. Bristol to Ibiza)
Flight destinations outside the EU
- €250 (£221*) compensation for a delayed flight up to 1,500 km (e.g. Bristol to Geneva)
- €400 (£354*) compensation for a delayed flight between 1,500 km and 3,500 km (e.g. Bristol to Marrakesh)
- €600 (£530*) compensation for a delayed flight exceeding 3,500 km (e.g. Bristol to Orlando)
