Your rights as an airline passenger are established in Regulation 261/2004. For you to be entitled to compensation, your delayed flight must meet the following criteria:
- You arrived with more than three hours’ delay to your final destination
- You flew from an EU country
- Or you flew into an EU country and used a European airline
Dublin Airport is a European airport. Delayed flights departing from or arriving in Dublin Airport. If your delayed flight departed from Dublin and was not affected by extraordinary circumstances, you are entitled to compensation which can go up to €600 (£538*) per person.
Example: You are flying from Dublin to Boston with a four hour delay due to crew issues. You are entitled to €600 in compensation for this delay.
Amount of compensation
When your delayed flight to or Dublin airport falls under Regulation 261/2004, you are entitled to compensation. The amount of compensation is based on the distance of your flight:

- €250 (£224*) compensation for a delayed flight up to1,500 km (e.g. Dublin to London)
- €400 (£359*) compensation for a delayed flight exceeding than 1,500 km (e.g. Dublin to Lanzarote)
Flight destinations outside the EU
- €250 (£224*) compensation for a delayed flight up to 1,500 km (e.g. Dublin to Geneva)
- €400 (£359*) compensation for a delayed flight between 1,500 km and 3,500 km (e.g. Dublin to Antalya)
- €600 (£538*) compensation for a delayed flight exceeding 3,500 km (e.g. Dublin to Boston)
