Your rights regarding KLM delays

When your KLM flight is delayed for more than three hours, your rights as a passenger are protected under EU Regulation 261/2004. This Regulation states that you are entitled to compensation based upon the flight distance of your KLM flight if the delay was not caused by extraordinary circumstances.

There are a few requirements that you must meet in order to apply for compensation:

KLM is a Dutch and therefor, European airline, meaning that if your flight is delayed by three hours or more, you are entitled to compensation when you depart of arrive in an EU country. Only if extraordinary circumstances apply your right to compensation can be waved. The amount of compensation is based upon the flights distance.

Example: Your flight with KLM from Birmingham to Amsterdam is affected by a delay of 1,5 hours. You are not entitled to compensation in this case because the delay does not exceed the time stamp of three hours.
