Regulation 261/2004 lays down your rights as an airline passenger. For you to be entitled to compensation, the following criteria have to be met:
- You arrived with a delay of three or more at your end destination
- You flew from an EU country, or you flew into an EU country with a European airline
- The reason for your delay was not due to an extraordinary circumstance, such as a lightning strike on the aircraft
Liverpool is a European airport. Therefore, if your delayed flight departed from Liverpool and was not affected by extraordinary circumstances, you may be entitled to financial compensation of up to €600 (£0*) per person.
Example: Your flight from Liverpool to Amsterdam was delayed by 4 hours due to no crew being available. This is not classed as an extraordinary circumstance, therefore under the EC Regulation 261/2004, you are entitled to compensation of €250 (£0*) per person.
Amount of compensation
Provided your delayed flight to or from Liverpool Airport falls under Regulation 261/2004, you are entitled to compensation. The amount of compensation is based on the distance of your flight:
