About Regulation 261/2004
In 2004, Regulation 261 was established by the European Union to protect passenger rights and enforce them. Flight delays, cancellations, denied boarding’s and missed connections are covered in this Regulation.
In order to qualify for compensation under Regulation 261/2004, your flight must meet the following criteria:
- The delay must exceed three hours
- Your flight must be from an EU country
- Or you must be flying into an EU country with a European airline company
As Wizz Air is a European airline, Regulation 261/2004 covers all Wizz Air flights. If your flight is delayed for more than three hours, you could be entitled to compensation going up to €600 per person, unless there are extraordinary circumstances that affected the flight.
Example: Your Wizz Air (W6) flight from Budapest to London Luton was delayed for two hours due to a late incoming aircraft. You are not entitled to compensation as the delay was less than three hours.
