    Strike weekend dupes European passengers in France and Italy

    The weekend filled with strikes is finally over. Saturday and Sunday were marked by ATC strikes in the airspace of Marseille, whilst yesterday the Italian airports of Florence and Pisa were on strike. 109.050 passengers were affected by the strikes the past weekend and Monday.

    The upcoming weekend will be the third strike weekend for the Marseille airspace in a row. This strike will again affect passengers throughout Europe. The airport personnel of Pisa and Florence will go on strike upcoming Monday. Delays and cancellations are to be expected.

    European Attorney-General concludes: Conducting airline must pay compensation

    Attorney-General Tanchev advised the European Court of Justice today on the matter of responsibility of paying financial compensation by the airline causing a missed connection. The airline responsible for the arrival delay is obliged to pay the compensation, according to Attorney-General Tanchev.

    European Court rules in favour of passengers missing connection outside EU

    The European Court of Justice has ruled that passengers that booked connecting flights in one booking are entitled to compensation when they miss their connecting flight caused by a delay on the first flight departing the EU. The European Court is backing the passenger in this matter.

    Just finishing round two of this months’ French ATC strikes, a new set of ATC strikes is on its way.  The Greek ATC announced a strike for tomorrow between 10 AM and 13 PM local time. Holidaymakers could face potential delays.

    European Court of Justice Rules: ‘wild strike’ now allows passengers to receive compensation

    Earlier today the European Court of Justice ruled that a ‘wild strike’ after reorganization is a social risk that is to expected by the airline and therefor lies in the normal activities of an airlines’ organization. The airline is now obliged to pay financial compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004 when passengers face a longtime flight delay or cancellation due to a ‘wild strike’ of airline staff.
