Snow causes flight disruptions Frankfurt

Due to heavy snowfall, more than a hundred flights are cancelled at Frankfurt Airport. It concerns mostly flights within Europe. There are also severe delays due to the bad weather conditions.

In January, air traffic was also disrupted because of an ice storm. Additionally, several strikes were causing delays and cancellations in 2013.

Unfortunately passengers are not entitled to financial compensation in this situation. Snow is seen as an extraordinary circumstance. An airline could not prevent a delay that is due to bad weather conditions. Passengers do have the right to care and assistance. For example, food, refreshments, hotel accommodation et cetera have to be paid for by the airline.
